Minister for Training and Workforce Development Peter Collier has launched the Skilled Migration Portal, providing information on living and working in WA, migration pathways and visas, the WA Skilled Migration Occupation List and links to other related sites. Minister Collier has recently returned from the United Kingdom and Ireland where he led a delegation to promote WA as a leading destination for skilled migrants to help meet demand for skilled labour.

FAPSTC has submitted to the State Training Board a request to establish a traineeship for the Diploma of Management (BSB 51107). The proposal is currently being considered by the Establishment & Variation of Apprenticeships Committee, with an decision expected in early September.

Consultations are also underway to establish a traineeship for the Certificate IV in Occupational Health & Safety (BSB 41407). For more information on the traineeship for Occupational Health & Safety, or to support its establishment, please click here.


The 2011 Skills West Expo will be held from August 19 – 21 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. Over 100 exhibitors will showcase real job opportunities, education & training pathways and professional career advice across a range of industries. The Skills West Expo will feature many of WA’s resources companies, as well as those from the healthcare, hospitality, tourism, retail, aviation, defence, education, finance and government sectors.


Innovation and Business Skills Australia (IBSA) is conducting its annual E-Scan consultation workshops to assist in providing current and emerging skill needs across several industries, including Financial and Business Services. NEW VET DATABASE: training.gov.au

Training.gov.au - or TGA - is now live, replacing the, National Training Information Service (NTIS) Database. TGA is now the official National Register of information on training packages, qualifications, units of competency, courses, and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). The training.gov.au system supports all of the services previously provided by NTIS. All web pages within the NTIS website are automatically redirected to the new http://www.training.gov.au address.


Construction & Property Services Industry Skills Council (CPSISC) will hold its National Conference in Melbourne at the Crown Conference Centre on 29-30 August 2011. This year’s theme is The Future Workforce. Click here for more information.
